Famous standing stones and fine sandy beaches in Carnac.
Carnac has around 3 000 menhirs, or standing stones, dating from around 7 000 years ago, and famous for their alignement. You can visit the three menhir alignement sites of the Ménec, Kermario and Kerlescan, on a guided tour or independently. You will find the information you need for your visit at the Maison des Mégalithes.
Carnac boasts five sandy beaches, sheltered in the Quiberon Bay, near the Gulf of Morbihan. Great for families, for water-sports enthusiasts or anyone wanting to relax and soak up the sun or to enjoy a walk along the promenade, you can choose between the Grande Plage, le Mendu, Légenèse, Ty Bihan or Saint Colomban. The Grande Plage is the largest of the five beaches, and also offers disabled access. Le Mendu is great for families, as are Légenèse and Ty Bihan, and Saint Colomban is a renowned wind surfing spot.
