What is an LPO Refuge?
A space dedicated to nature
An LPO Refuge is a public or private site committed to preserving biodiversity. By joining this scheme, Camping Le Lac undertakes to respect the principles of the LPO charter. This charter implies the establishment of conditions favorable to soil life, as well as to wild fauna and flora.
It also aims to protect the site from pollution and reduce its impact on the environment. LPO Refuge status is not based on simple recognition, but on a concrete, ongoing approach, integrated into the running of the campsite and the upkeep of its grounds.
Biodiversity-friendly practices
A natural setting
Camping Le Lac implements various practices in line with its commitment as an LPO Refuge. The site includes wetlands dedicated to biodiversity, which contribute to the preservation of natural environments. Bird sanctuaries have been installed on the campsite to encourage the presence and tranquility of birds.
Planting favours endemic species, adapted to the area and beneficial to local fauna. Hedges are pruned before December 15 to respect natural cycles. These landscaping and maintenance choices aim to maintain a sustainable balance between human uses and the needs of living organisms.
Observing wildlife in its environment
A wealth of natural resources nearby
The Carnac campsite is located in an area renowned for its rich birdlife. In the surrounding area, different species can be observed depending on the natural environment. Theelegant avocet is mentioned in the salt marshes, while the osprey can be seen on the coast. The moors are home to the pitchou warbler, the maritime pipit and theEuropean nightjar. The beaches and rocks are home to redshanks, curlews, gulls and terns. This diversity underlines the importance of preserving natural habitats, and makes the campsite’s commitment as an LPO Refuge all the more meaningful.
