Why stay in the Erdeven-Carnac area in southern Brittany?

Menhirs, sand, and a ria

Carnac is located 8 km from Erdeven. The two towns share the same coastline, the same landscapes of heathland and dunes, and a common prehistoric history. When you stay with us, you’ll have both destinations within easy reach.

The Erdeven-Carnac area is one of the most diverse in Morbihan. Within a stretch of less than 10 km, it features fine-sand beaches, significant prehistoric heritage, calm bodies of water ideal for water sports, and an unspoiled inland coastline. It offers the very best ofSouthern Brittany.

Erdeven is a coastal town in Morbihan, located between Lorient and Quiberon. Its Kerhillio Beach stretches for 6 km of fine sand. It is one of the longest beaches in Morbihan and is often less crowded than those in Carnac-Plage during peak season. From our campground, you can reach it by car in just a few minutes.

The area’s highlights for planning your day:

  • Kerhillio Beach in Erdeven: 6 km of fine sand, perfect for long walks and swimming
  • The Carnac Stone Circles near Erdeven: a major prehistoric site, guided tours, and a prehistory museum, just 10 minutes from our campground: the Carnac Stone Circles near Erdeven
  • The Kerzerho Megaliths in Erdeven: the area’s second megalithic site, less well-known but often more accessible
  • Ria de Crac’h: a calm stretch of water between the sea and the land, perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and boat trips
  • Quiberon Peninsula, 20 km away: Côte Sauvage, thalassotherapy, ferry to Belle-Île-en-Mer
  • Gulf of Morbihan, 30 km away: Vannes, the Gulf Islands, day cruises

To explore the Étel estuary from Erdeven—another natural gem in Morbihan that’s accessible from our campground—it takes about 20 minutes by bike along the coastal paths.

Our accommodations: mobile homes and campsites for every type of traveler

From a camper van to a lakeview mobile home

We offer two main types of accommodations: rental units (mobile homes and a unique gypsy caravan) and campsites for guests staying in tents, trailers, RVs, or vans. The entire site is designed to remain intimate, with a peaceful atmosphere that larger resorts simply cannot offer.

Dogs are allowed in mobile homes. If you are traveling with your pet, please contact us directly to find out the specific policies for your chosen dates and unit type.

Many of our mobile home rentals near Erdeven are located along the saltwater lake, offering a direct view of the Crac’h estuary from the terrace. Open the door in the morning and you’ll see the water right in front of you.

The lake-view models available at our campground in Carnac:

  • Ty Brehat, 37 sq. m.: 3 bedrooms, lake view — perfect for large families
  • Ty Brehat, 32 sq. m.: 2 bedrooms, covered terrace, lake view
  • Ty Brehat, 40 m²: 2 bedrooms + 2 bathrooms, covered terrace, lake view — our most spacious model
  • Ty Latz, 22 sq. m.: 1 bedroom, lake view — perfect for couples
  • Ty Ker, 24 m²: 2 bedrooms, no lake view, comfortable and well-equipped

The covered terraces of the Ty Brehat models, measuring 32 and 40 square meters, are particularly popular in southern Brittany: they allow you to enjoy the view even in changeable weather, which is no small matter in Morbihan.

Our Ty Lok PMR mobile home (30 m², 2 bedrooms, terrace) is accessible to people with limited mobility. The pool is also accessible to people with limited mobility. These two amenities are rare at a 4-star campground of this size, and we take great pride in offering them.

For campers, our campsites are at least 80 m² in size , with a 6A electrical hookup and access to drinking water. A waste disposal area is available on-site for RVs and camper vans. For complete details, check out all our packages on the page dedicated to your camping vacation in Morbihan.

The campground’s heated pool and water play areas

25°C even in June

Our heated pool is kept at 25°C throughout the season. This ensures a comfortable swimming experience even when the Breton weather is unpredictable. The pool is outdoor and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The view from the pool offers an unobstructed vista of the saltwater lake and the Crac’h estuary. It’s a setting that few campsites in the area can offer: swimming in water heated to 25°C while looking out over the estuary.

  • Our on-site aquatic facilities:
  • Fully accessible for people with disabilities
  • Outdoor swimming pool heated to 25°C, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Paddling pool for young children
  • Water Play Area Open Since 2025

The pool is not covered and is not part of a water park. This is a deliberate choice: the area remains quiet, without crowds or the noise of water slides. For families looking for a peaceful place to swim, this is a real advantage. For those who want water slides and supervised water activities, other campsites in the area will better meet those needs.

The ria as a playground

Located between the Crac’h estuary, the beaches of Carnac, and the prehistoric sites of Erdeven, the area offers a wealth of activities rarely found in such a peaceful setting. We’ve designed on-site recreational activities for families with children of all ages, without overcrowding the space.

The route follows the ria upstream to the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer or branches off toward the Baie des Anges. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available on-site.

The mini-farm is an activity that young children ask to do every morning. Goats, rabbits, chickens: it’s simple, hands-on, and a rare find at a 4-star campground. No supervised activities, no costumed entertainers—just the animals and your children.

When to Stay at Camping Le Lac Carnac: Seasonality and Tips

Book early, enjoy more

Southern Brittany enjoys a milder microclimate than the rest of Brittany. Morbihan is the sunniest department in Brittany. That doesn’t mean the weather is guaranteed, but the odds are in your favor compared to Finistère or Côtes-d’Armor.

We are open during the summer season. The exact opening and closing dates are available on our website and on our booking page. Please check them directly to plan your stay.

July–August (high season) : All activities are available: swimming pool, petting zoo, bar and snack bar, kayak and bike rentals, Homeball Soccer. This is our busiest time of year. The mobile homes with lake views and the best-located campsites go first. Booking 4 to 5 months in advance is the norm for July–August.

May–June and September (shoulder season): The campground is quieter. Rates are generally more affordable than during peak season. The pool, heated to 25°C, remains open, which more than makes up for the cooler days. The beaches at Carnac and Erdeven are less crowded. This is often the preferred time of year for couples and families with young children.

A practical tip: if you’re looking for a Ty Brehat or Ty Latz mobile home with a lake view, don’t wait too long. These accommodations are the first to be booked every year, no matter the season.

The author – Camping Le Lac Carnac

Our campground, Le Lac Carnac, is situated in a unique location: a saltwater lake formed by the Crac’h estuary dam in Carnac, in southern Brittany. What defines our campground is this blend of the calm of the saltwater, unspoiled nature, and the immediate proximity to beaches and menhirs. We chose to create a campground on a human scale, without forced entertainment, featuring practical amenities: a heated pool, direct kayak access, a mini-farm, and mobile homes with lake views. In 2025, we opened our water play area and our Homeball Soccer zone—two additions designed with families in mind, while maintaining the peaceful atmosphere that defines us.
