Camping Le Lac Carnac in Plouharnel: a unique natural setting in Brittany
The estuary, the lake, the tranquility
The 4-star Camping Le Lac Carnac welcomes you to Plouharnel for vacations with family, as a couple, or with friends, from summer through early fall.
Plouharnel is a town in Morbihan, situated between Carnac and the Quiberon Peninsula. Our 4-star campground occupies a unique location there: on the edge of the Ria de Crac’h, an inlet that extends from La Trinité-sur-Mer and forms a saltwater lake at high tide.
The air is filled with the scent of the sea. The light over the water in Morbihan changes by the hour. The cry of the seagulls in the early morning reminds you that you’re in southern Brittany, not at an amusement park.

With its 119 campsites, the site retains a peaceful atmosphere. No crowds, no water park with slides. Just the Breton landscape, the view of the lake from some of the accommodations and the bar’s terrace, and the knowledge that you’re just a stone’s throw away from Europe’s most famous stone circles.
It is this setting—with its unspoiled natural beauty , intimate atmosphere, and strong ties to the local community—that sets our Plouharnel campground apart from the standard offerings in the region.
Why choose Camping Le Lac for your vacation in Plouharnel?
Six good reasons
Here’s what really sets us apart from other campsites along the coast around Plouharnel.
Kayaking and paddleboarding on the Crac’h estuary: from our direct access to the estuary, you can paddle all the way to the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer or to the Baie des Anges. This water route starting from the campground is a rare find in coastal Brittany. You’ll glide along the wild shoreline, passing sailboats. It’s a different way to experience Morbihan.
Lake view from certain accommodations: We’d like to be clear about this: only the Ty Brehat, Ty Latz, and Ty Ker Solo mobile homes are located along the lake and offer a guaranteed view. The bar terrace also offers this view. The other accommodations are located within the campground and do not have a direct view of the water.
The Carnac menhirs are just 10 minutes away: by bike, via the greenway, you can reach the stone alignments in a leisurely 15-minute ride. We offer bike rentals on-site. Cycling to Carnac from the campground is perfectly doable for children ages 8–11.
An on-site mini-farm: goats, rabbits, and chickens—our animals welcome the children every day. It’s a nature experience you rarely find at a seaside campground in Brittany. The children come back every morning.
Heated to 25°C, wheelchair accessible: the pool is outdoor—not covered. But heated to 25°C, it remains comfortable even in June or September. Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., without a lifeguard. A wading pool and a water play area (new in 2025) round out the facility.
Accessible camping: our Ty Lok PMR mobile home (30 m², 2 bedrooms, terrace) is designed for guests with limited mobility. The pool is also accessible to guests with limited mobility. This is a feature that few seaside campsites in Brittany have developed.
For families looking for a vacation centered around water sports and nature, our family-friendly campground in Morbihan offers accommodations to suit every need.

The Ty Brehat is available in three sizes: 37 m² with 3 bedrooms, 32 m² with 2 bedrooms and a covered terrace, and 40 m² with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is our most popular choice for families looking for a view.

Heated pool and water park at Camping Le Lac
25°C even in September
Our outdoor pool is heated to 25°C. It opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. It is accessible to people with limited mobility.
The pool is not covered. However, since it is kept at a comfortable temperature, it remains pleasant even in June or early September—two periods when the weather in Morbihan is often mild and the crowds are lighter. This is a real advantage for families traveling during the shoulder seasons.
The water park also features a wading pool for young children and a water play area that opened in 2025. The atmosphere is peaceful. No slides, no crowds. Just the water, the Breton sun when it’s out, and children playing.

On water and on land
The campground’s main attraction is the Crac’h estuary. From our direct access to the water, you can set off by kayak or paddleboard on a route that follows the banks all the way to the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer or to the Baie des Anges. Kids ages 8–11 can easily give it a try. Adults can too.
On-site, the range of activities covers several roles:
For kids: the “Airplane” playground, the trampoline, the bouncy castle for toddlers, and of course the petting zoo. Goats, rabbits, and chickens are there every day. Homeball Soccer (new in 2025, behind the reception area) is a hit with older kids.
For everyone: pétanque, table tennis, pool, and foosball in the indoor game room. The bar’s terrace, with its view of the lake, is the perfect place to relax in the late afternoon.
For outings: we offer bike rentals on-site. The greenway takes you to Carnac, its beaches, and its fields of standing stones. Hikes along the Sentier des Douaniers offer superb routes starting from Plouharnel, winding through moors, coastlines, and the inland countryside.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities (coin-operated washers and dryers), dish and laundry bins, ice cream for sale, bread available by order, and a snack bar during the season. Dogs are allowed in mobile homes.

Plouharnel and the surrounding area: an ideal starting point for exploring Southern Brittany
Carnac, Quiberon, Gulf of Morbihan
Plouharnel is situated at the entrance to the Quiberon Peninsula, just a stone’s throw from Carnac. It’s a strategic location for exploring southern Brittany without a car. The menhirs, the beaches, La Trinité-sur-Mer, the Gulf of Morbihan: everything is less than an hour away from our estate.
To explore all the tourist attractions Morbihan has to offer starting from Plouharnel, our location is a real advantage. Plouharnel is less crowded than Quiberon during peak season, yet offers access to the same beaches and attractions.
Here are some places to visit in Morbihan from the campground:
- Lorient: For a trip to Lorient from Plouharnel, allow about 35 minutes by car
- Carnac’s menhirs and beaches: 10 minutes (by bike via the greenway)
- La Trinité-sur-Mer Harbor: accessible by kayak from the Crac’h estuary
- Quiberon Peninsula: by bike along the Auray-Quiberon greenway, which passes through Plouharnel
- Gulf of Morbihan: less than an hour’s drive away, with boat tours available
The Plouharnel Tourist Office publishes a calendar of local events and practical information about the town.
The Carnac stone circles: 10 minutes from the campground
The Carnac stone circles near Plouharnel are one of Europe’s most remarkable prehistoric sites. More than 3,000 standing stones arranged in rows stretching for several kilometers, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A 10-minute bike ride from the campground via the greenway.
We offer bike rentals on site. The route is flat and suitable for children. A practical tip: set out early in the morning in July and August to avoid the crowds and enjoy the site in the low morning light.
The Quiberon Peninsula and Quiberon Bay as seen from Plouharnel
The Auray-Quiberon Greenway passes through Plouharnel. By bike, you can reach the peninsula without a car, without traffic jams, and without having to look for parking.
The eastern side of Quiberon Bay offers calm, shallow waters, ideal for swimming with children. The Atlantic side, to the west, is more exposed: waves, surfing, and sand yachting on the fine sandy beaches. Two very different atmospheres less than a 20-minute bike ride apart.
From Plouharnel, you can also enjoy the bay’s water sports: sailing, sea kayaking, and sand yachting. The town is less crowded than Quiberon during peak season, making it easier to get around and find parking when traveling by car.
