Carnac is a unique destination in France. It is a seaside resort with fine sandy beaches and an Atlantic coastline, and it is also home to the world’s largest megalithic alignments, with several thousand menhirs scattered across the fields of Kermario, Ménec, and Kerlescan. The Gulf of Morbihan is just a short bike ride or drive away. This inland sea, dotted with islands, offers landscapes and water activities that are quite different from those found along the Atlantic coast. Kayaking, sailing, and boat trips: there are plenty of providers around the gulf.

The Carnac stone rows are accessible by bike from our resort. The fields of Kermario, Ménec, and Kerlescan are located in the town of Carnac and are connected by marked bike paths. The route from our campground is pleasant and flat, typical of the Morbihan coastline.
Our tip: head out early in the morning. The stone circles are less crowded before 10 a.m., the light is different, and you can enjoy the silence of the stone circles before the tour groups arrive. It’s an experience few visitors get to have, since most arrive by car in the middle of the morning.
Bicycles are available for rent in Carnac and near the campground. Our staff can direct you to the nearest rental shops and recommend routes based on your skill level and the time you have available.
The megalithic heritage of Carnac is a designated historic site and is partially managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux.
